About Us

Columbia Community Center of Seventh-day Adventists (CCC) is a vibrant, growing congregation, and part of the worldwide body of believers of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. We are currently located at 9121 Red Branch Road in Columbia, Maryland.

In April 1996, a small group of believers led by Pastor William C. Scales, Sr., Ralph and Joy Peterson, had a bold vision to start a new congregation in a small Maryland community called Columbia. This community, designed by James W. Rouse in 1967, was the first planned community in the United States created to enhance its residents’ quality of life–– this included spiritual, mental, and physical attributes. The vision of CCC was always to be a ministry center dedicated to addressing these attributes for residents in Columbia. This was the vision back in 1996 and still remains the vision today.

Located in Howard County, the second wealthiest county in Maryland, Columbia has 11 self-contained villages with a population of more than 100,000 people. CCC is determined to live out the vision that the Scales and Petersons set forth in 1996 – to provide a spiritual base, build coalitions and partnerships, meet needs to create and maintain optimum quality of life, and design and execute programs that will impact, change and save lives for God’s kingdom. We believe by God’s grace we can meet the challenges of ministering to this unique population.
